ITC upholds US stainless plate import duties

2017-05-19
The US International Trade Commission has determined that countervailing duties on imports of stainless steel plate from South Africa and anti-dumping duties from Belgium, South Africa and Taiwan will remain in place following a five-year sunset review.
The commission unanimously ruled that revoking the existing duties "would be likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury within a reasonably foreseeable time", the agency said on December 9.
The countervailing determination will maintain duties at 3.95% for South Africa; the anti-dumping determination will maintain duties at 8.54% and 41.63% for Belgium and South Africa respectively.
Meanwhile, for Taiwan, the anti-dumping duties will remain at 8.02% for Yieh United Steel Corp (Yusco), 10.20% for Yusco/Ta Chen International Inc0. and 7.39% for all others.
The commission plans to issue a report on the review by January 12 2017.
The determinations were previously upheld in 2011.
